Aldeia Hippie

The village of Arembepe became known throughout the world from the 1960s on thanks to the existence of the hippie village. At the end of the 1960s, young people from all over the world came here for the holidays and to live according to the concept of counterculture and the motto of peace and love, which was opposed by the Cold War and the Vietnam War. Janis Joplin, Mick Jagger, Novos Baianos, Ney Matogrosso, Rita Lee, Gal Costa and Paulo Coelho were some of the artists who celebrated the place. Pousada A Capela supports a project to create an open-air museum in the village.

Trip to Salvador

Village of Arembepe

The fishermen village has to plazas, the San Francisco church, stores, grocery store, bank, Brazilian lottery house, and two good restaurantes. Mar Aberto has been in the Amendoeiras Square for 31 years and has stars from the Brazilian specialied magazine Veja Comer e Beber.

Tamar project of Arembepe

The Tamar (sea turtles) project is open from thrusday to sunday. It is small and the kids can see the animals very close. The staff is very nice and attentive, because they are professors and tecnical personnel. During the spawning season, from october to march, it is possible to see the little turtles going to the sea.

Gastronomy Cultural Alfazema

It is not a restaurante, but a bed and breakfast inn in which the owner, Claudia Kusch, is a wonderfull cook. She prepares lunches and dinners on demand in her balcony.

Forte Beach

We are 18 miles away from Praia do Forte. It is possible to get there in 30 minutes by car, cab or bus. Besides walking around the village, which is full of stores and restaurantes, the Castle Garcia D’Ávila, the oldest inf Brazil, built in 1551, is worth visiting.

Visita ao terreiro de Lembá

Localizada na estrada da Cascalheira, que leva à Camaçari, o terreiro de Lembá é o primeiro tombado pelo patrimônio histórico e cultural do município. O pai de santo, Táta Ricardo, da nação Angola, recebe os visitantes e mostra, com generosidade e aconchego, o terreiro. Ele também faz atendimento e leitura de búzios.
